General Conduct
This is not a guild for those of you who can’t take foul language, crude and annoying jokes, and other rather explicit discussions. Having said that, offensive slurs used as such will be treated extremely harshly. Try and keep a light heart at the friendly ribbing that occurs, but if it truly hurts you, make it known so people can know that you are not comfortable with it. Please confine your vulgarity to guild chat and out of general/trade/non-guild party chat. Many people are willing and capable of answering your questions in ventrilo/guild chat but please remember to try and limit the frequency of these requests. There are many useful websites that the people answering your questions probably visited to get that information. Check the links section of the forums for many of these sites. Essentially what it boils down to is…don’t be a dick.
Player vs Player (PvP)
Gods of War considers PvP to be a secondary aspect of the game. Feel free to engage in PvP as you see fit, form PvP teams, and ask in guild for PvP groups. The only rule is to conduct yourself in a manner that does not shine a poor light upon the guild. Remember that if you are a raider, missing raids to PvP is unacceptable.
General 5-Man Rules
BoE – Greed
BoP – Need if needed + main spec. Pause and ask if other mains need it before rolling need if offspec.
All other rules TBD by the individual group. Remember to discuss party rules when in non-full guild groups.
Raid Participation
If you were recruited to raid, we expect you do do so. Failure to maintain the minimum required amount of attendance without a damn good reason will result in an expulsion from the guild. Raid times will be clearly posted and invites go out 30 minutes prior to those times. It is your duty to be at the raid area ready to go at the time of the raid, plan ahead and don’t rely on others to supply you with summons/reagents/consumables at the last second. While we frown upon people leaving early, we understand that things can come up that simply are more important. If you know that you will be leaving early from a raid, you must tell either an officer or raid leader BEFORE the raid begins or raid slots are determined. Showing up on time and prepared raises your chances of getting a spot to raid but this is not guaranteed. There we will be times when there will be more qualified raiders trying for spot than are available. In this event, we will ask for a volunteer to sit. If no volunteer steps forward, an officer will determine how the spots will be filled. Showing understanding and acceptance of these decisions shine well upon you and we will try to ensure that a single qualified raider does not repeatedly sit.
Raid Preparedness
While there are no strict guidelines on what you are required to have in order to raid, excessive or repeated lack of preparedness will result in punishment up to and including expulsion. Preparedness means having consumables (healing/mana pots, food buffs, elixir/flasks, bandages, soul shards, buffing reagents) for any encounter we do not consider “on farm” (farm status will be declared by the officers once its felt that the fight no longer requires this effort). Preparedness also means coming to raids with your gear enchanted and all gem slots filled with reasonable gems (no, green quality gems will not be reasonable for top end gear), having your gear repaired, and knowing the basics of whatever raid we will be attempting (know what the boss does, we will explain how to do the fight the GoW way). Try and also know what items you want out of each raid, as it will facilitate a faster raid environment if less time is taken to determine who wants loot.
Raid Communication
While it is not required that a player talk in ventrilo, it is required for a player to be able to listen. While a fight is being explained, do not interrupt. If you have a suggestion or problem, please whisper an officer and they will address it over vent. Please keep vent clear of useless information on boss fights that require vocal communication. Please keep guild/raid chat clear while loot is being determined. That means that you should not flood guild/raid chat until you see that loot has been given out. If you have a problem at any time during a raid, whisper an officer.
Raid Looting
Random BoE’s will be assigned via /random 10 or /random 25 if master looter is set. Possible exceptions will be made on boss dropped BoE’s.
Lastly, while the officers would love to please everyone, they are here to ensure a quality guild environment. They have final authority regarding guild matters and the power to enforce as such. All the above policies are subject to change at any time.
